Did you know 70% of young people volunteer?
The Volunteer
Center for Anne Arundel County
supports youth within the community, by helping place youth in
volunteer activities that interest them and give them worthwhile
skills, life experience, and service-learning hours. Youth Volunteers
provide invaluable service, not only through direct volunteering but as
leaders and advocates.
Volunteering should be FUN
and meaningful for you! We can help you find an interesting volunteer
activity, regardless of your age or schedule. Take a look at our new
Current
Youth Guide to get some ideas today!
What is and is not age
appropriate service for Kindergarten through High School age
volunteers? Sometimes
it is just as important to know what not to do as what to do.

for information about age-appropriate volunteer and service projects
and some comparisons for each of the following age groups: K-5th Grade,
6th-8th Grade, and 9th-12th Grades.
TAPS
stands for
“Teens as Problem Solvers”
The mission of TAPS is to empower teens to become leaders and to make positive changes in their communities. Hone your team building and leadership skills, learn how to set goals, and overcome everyday challenges. Bi-monthly meetings will be used for planning service projects and discussing leadership topics.
The curriculum has
been developed by
the Volunteer
Center
for Anne
Arundel
County, which include such topics as: communication,
creativity, diversity,
empowerment, and self esteem. The service projects planning and decision making are done directly by the members of TAPS.
Teens as Problem Solvers is an awesome way to get
mandatory service learning hours completed in a way that is fun & easy for you!
The first meeting of the school year will take place on September 20, 2007.
Hope to see you there!
